In the context of the International East European Studies Platform (PIEES), the first workshops organized by the members of the organizing committee, secretariat and the guest participants were held at Eskişehir Osmangazi University Application Hotel on 15 12 2018.
The workshop was hosted by Prof. Dr. Nuri Kavak from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Department of History and the opening speech was made by Prof. Dr. Yücel Öztürk from the Department of History of Sakarya University.

Dr. Hacer Topaktaş Üstüner (İstanbul Üniversitesi), Doç. Dr. Serkan Yazıcı (Sakarya Üniversitesi) , Doç. Dr. Alper Başer (Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi), Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Murat Öztürk (Malatya İnönü Üniversitesi) , Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Ahmet Üstüner (İstanbul Üiversitesi), Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Esra Özsüer (İstanbul Üniversitesi) and Secretariat participated lasted for one day.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kavas, the Founding President of the African Researchers Association (AFAM) and the Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul Medeniyet University, presented valuable ideas that the methods and research techniques applied in African studies can be used in Eastern European Studies.
It was observed that the workshop, which was held between 09: 00-17: 00 and which all participants expressed their opinions, criticisms and future projects, was very productive. One of the main issues discussed was the country where CIEES 2019 will be held. At this point, it was decided to accelerate the negotiations with Varna Free University in Bulgaria and the main theme was decided to be Resources and Methodology. It was stated that the archeology area is weak for all historians, not only for Eastern Europe area. It was decided to develop a methodology on how archeology can be used as a resource in the congress.
For the first half of 2019, topics such as the number of commemorative journal of JIEES, congresses, papers, panels, workshops, platform introductory texts and press meetings were discussed. Also the task sharing of CIEES 2019 was determined during the workshop. It was observed that all participants were willing and self-sacrificed. The workshop which was held the intimate of host Prof. Dr. Nuri Kavak was completed at 17:00.
